Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 2026-05-25

1. Who we are

“Sitelad”, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to the Sitelad service, operated from England by the founder Chris Goodchild trading as Sitelad. By using the service you agree to these Terms.

2. The service

Sitelad provides a hosted, multi-tenant website platform for UK tradespeople. Each customer (“you”) gets a site themed by their brand, hosted on a Sitelad subdomain and, where chosen, a custom or managed .co.uk domain.

3. Subscription & billing

Plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Prices on this site exclude VAT, which is added at the standard UK rate. Your subscription continues month to month until you cancel.

You can cancel any time via the Stripe billing portal in your admin. On cancellation we keep your site live until the end of the current paid period. We do not pro-rate refunds of unused days beyond the 14-day window below.

4. 14-day refund

If you cancel within the first 14 days of subscribing for the first time we’ll refund your subscription in full, no questions asked. The refund covers the subscription only — third-party fees (e.g. a .co.uk registration we passed through at cost) are non-refundable.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Sitelad in line with our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach it. Where practical we’ll give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to put things right.

6. Intellectual property

Your content stays yours. You retain all rights to the text, photos, logos, and other material you upload (“Customer Content”). You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, transmit, and display the Customer Content as needed to run the service.

Our platform stays ours. Sitelad, the underlying template, code, brand, and documentation remain our intellectual property. You don’t get any ownership of the platform by subscribing.

7. Domain ownership

If you bring your own domain, you remain the registrant. We never ask you to transfer ownership to us. If we register a managed .co.uk on your behalf (Pro+), we register it as a trustee for you under the terms set out in docs/domain-policy.md. On cancellation we will run a transfer-out process to put the domain in your name within 30 days of your request.

8. Data ownership & export

Customer data — enquiries, bookings, page content, gallery images — belongs to you. You can export it at any time from the admin (and via support request for any data not covered by the in-app export).

9. Availability & SLA

We aim for best-effort uptime. We do not, in v1, offer a contractual uptime SLA. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance where practical.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by English law, our total aggregate liability to you under or in connection with these Terms is capped at the total fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We do not exclude liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to active customers by email at least 14 days before they take effect.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
